VARSITY GRENADIERS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT
By Claude Scilley
Kingston Grenadiers won their second Ontario Varsity Football League varsity game Saturday in Don Mills, but they paid dearly for their 18-0 victory over the Toronto Thunder. The undefeated Grenadiers lost running back Cole Goodfellow and quarterback Dylan Bell to injury in the first half of the game at George Vanier Secondary School. Bell completed four of nine passes but he also threw three interceptions in the rain-soaked affair before he was forced out of the game with what the team is describing an upper-body injury. He also finished the game as the team’s leading rusher, with 73 yards. His replacement, Dylan Fisher, completed three of four passes and scored a touchdown on a one-yard run.
Before injuring an ankle, Goodfellow had rushed for 24 yards and scored the only touchdown of the first half. Dustin Brogaard carried 14 times for Kingston in the second half, for 53 yards.
Mike Bashall converted both Kingston touchdowns and booted a 28-yard field goal and a single.
