The Gaels continued their dominance of the Varsity Blues with a 53-7 victory and in doing so, kept Toronto’s winless streak going at 34 games.
Offensively, Queen's got two touchdowns from FB Billy Burke who chipped in with 77 yards rushing after Marty Gordon left the game with a likely season-ending knee injury. Marty had compiled 53 yards rushing and 47 yards passing in only a quarter before leaving the game. WR Brad Smith also had 2 TD’s, one receiving and another on a 60-yard punt return. He totaled 97 yards receiving on the day with 9 catches. Other touchdowns for Queen's were scored by Danny Brannagan, Mike Giffin and Rob Bagg. Bagg had a great day with 79 yards receiving, 31 yards on one punt return and 61 yards on 2 kickoff returns. Rounding out the scoring was Ryan Elger who was 7 of 7 on converts, and 1 of 4 on field goals. Danny Brannagan finished the game 15 of 26 for 276 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions to go with his rushing TD.
Defensively, Adam Ross had 7 solo + one assisted tackles and a sack; Kevin Magee had 7 solo tackles, Tim Poffley had 5 solo tackles, while Ian Hazlett hit for the cycle with 4 solo tackles, 1 assist, a sack and an interception. Osi Ukwuoma and Chris Manion also contributed sacks. The Gaels other 2 picks were made by Ryan Vettorazzo and Dedrick Sterling.
