Queen's Women's Basketball outscored
the York Lions 19-8 in the fourth quarter to win their OUA Playoffs first round matchup 74-65.
The Gaels held an eight-point lead at half time before a big third quarter by the Lions had Queen's trailing by two points heading into the fourth. The Gaels held the Lions to just eight fourth quarter points while pouring in 19 for the nine-point win.
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) had a huge performance for Queen's in the win, recording a double-double with 22 points and a game-high 23 rebounds.
Sophie de Goede (Victoria, B.C.) also finished with a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Emma Weltz (Timmins, Ont.) added 17 points and seven rebounds in the win.
Queen's finished the game shooting 36.4 per cent (28-77) from the floor and 15 per cent (3-20) from three point range and held the Lions to 31.6 per cent (24-76) shooting from the floor and 36.8 per cent (7-19) from three point range.
With the win, the Gaels will advance to the second round of the OUA Playoffs.
