No. 3 GAELS COME BACK FROM DOWN 4-1 IN 3rd TO FORCE OT BUT FALL 5-4 TO No. 5 CALGARY

The No. 3 Queen's Gaels trailed 4-1 in the third period and put together a great comeback scoring three straight times, including their fourth goal coming with the goalie pulled on a power play, to force overtime. The Dinos scored in the extra frame however to get the 5-4 win. The Gaels will now play tomorrow at 12 p.m. in the consolation final.

Russian Olympian Iya Gavrilova of Krasnoyarsk tallied the game-winner on the powerplay 2:37 into the overtime period when she slid the puck along the ice to beat Queen's netminder Karissa Savage.
Down 4-1 heading into the third period, Queen's notched three unanswered tallies, including the game-tying marker from Guelph, Ont., native Chantal Morais with just 12 seconds remaining, to force overtime.
“As long as there's time on the clock and breath in their lungs they stick to it and don't quit,” said Queen's Gaels head coach Matt Holmberg. “I'm really proud how they stayed positive and kept battling away.”
The Gaels end pool play with two points and will play for fifth place in tomorrow's consolation final at 12 p.m., while the StFX X-Women advance to the bronze-medal match tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. on account of their head-to-head win over Queen's.
The defending CIS champions will appear in their second final in as many years tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and await the results of tonight's Pool A game to determine their opponent.
“We knew we were in (the final) as soon as it went into overtime, but you have to make sure you take every opportunity you have,” said Dinos bench boss Danielle Goyette. “I thought our four-on-three power play did some good things and moved the puck well. It just gives more confidence to the players to finish with a win.”
Gavrilova opened the scoring just 2:25 into the contest as she one-timed a Calaine Inglis (Edmonton) pass to beat Savage (Calgary) and find the back of the net.
CIS all-Canadian Morgan McHaffie of Guelph evened the score just three minutes later as she stormed the Calgary crease and tapped in a Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) rebound.
Despite being on the penalty kill, the Dinos continued to pressure and three-time Olympic champion Hayley Wickenheiser of Shaunaon, Sask., sent a booming shot from the point over Savage's glove to notch her second goal of the tournament and give Calgary a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.
The Dinos cushioned their lead with two goals 33 seconds apart early in the second period. Fourth-year defenceman and Charlottetown native Stephanie Ramsay sent a low point shot through traffic to find the back of the net, before Calgary native Erika Mitschke received a drop pass from Sinead Tracey (St. Albert, Alta.) and wired the puck into the top corner of the net.
The Gaels cut the deficit to two midway through the third frame when rookie forward Courtney Jacklin of Regina crashed the net and banged it home on a second rebound. McHaffie notched her second of the game with just 5:47 minutes remaining and Morais forced overtime with a beautiful tip off a Katie Duncan point shot with just 12 seconds to go in regulation.
