The Queen’s Golden Gaels women’s hockey team scored the first goal of the game, and the last two goals after falling behind 4-1, but could not complete the comeback against the Varsity Blues, and fell 4-3.
The Golden Gaels opened the scoring at 6:06 of the first period on a goal by Elizabeth Kench, her ninth of the year. The Varsity Blues responded with four straight goals to seemingly put the game out of reach.
Queen's attempted to close the 4-1 gap, led by Morgan McHaffie who scored two third period goals. Both goals where assisted by Michelle Hunt. Kench also collected an assist to give three Golden Gaels multi-point games. Queen's peppered Toronto goalie Kendyl Valenta with 38 shots. Goaltender Mel Dodd-Moher saved 27 of 31 shots in a losing cause.
