GAELS MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS THE NO. 2 RYERSON RAMS 4-1
The Gaels men's soccer team finishes off a strong weekend defeating the No. 2 Ryerson Rams 4-1 Sunday afternoon.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels fell behind early in the first half with Ryerson's Raheem Rose netting a goal in the fifth minute to give the Rams a 1-0 lead. Queen's settled into the game after giving up the early lead and evened up the match 1-1 when Oliver Coren (Toronto) scored his first goal of the season. The game went back and fourth for the remainder of the half with both teams exchanging scoring chances.
The start of the second half saw the Gaels offence come alive, starting with a goal in the 55th minute from striker Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa) who netted his team leading fourth goal of the season. Two minutes later Queen's striked again with a goal from forward Patrick van Belleghem (Kenora, Ont.) who scored his first of the season. The Gaels were not done there when four minutes later forward Tonko Bacelic (Mississauga, Ont.) got his second goal of the season to give Queen's a 4-1 lead. In a span of six minutes in the second half the Gaels produced three straight goals to take complete control of the match.
Taylor Reynolds (Kingston, Ont.) was the starting goalkeeper Sunday for Queen's finishing the game with three saves on four shots on goal.
