York tops Queen's 3-1 in Toronto

After knocking the Gaels out of the OUA playoffs last season, the York Lions again showed their strength with a 3-1 win over Queen’s
After losing the first game 23-25, Queen’s responded by winning the second set 25-22. That was the closest the Gaels would get as they dropped the third and fourth games 24-26 and 25-27 respectively.
The Gaels received a strong effort from Lorna Button (Newcastle, Ont.) who had 20 kills on 60 attacks, with 16 digs. Becky Billings (Ottawa) also helped by digging 13 balls. Katie Matthews (Aurora, Ont.) had nine kills and nine block stuffs.
York benefited from 38 Queen’s errors and were able to pull ahead in the close games. The Lions improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Gaels (2-2) on the season continue play on November 6th in Hamilton, Ont., where they take on McMaster Marauders. They also visit the Waterloo Warriors on November 7th in Waterloo, Ont.
